At our next spot we have something that has to be seen to be believed. Novelty Automation, opened in 2015 by engineer and artist Tim Hunkin, is an arcade unlike any other, filled with wacky, satirical game machines that blur the line between humor and absurdity.
From participating in an interactive divorce to experiencing an automatic frisking machine, and even using a device that determines whether something is “pet or meat,” the creations are as satirical as they are surreal. 7. Marioke at Juju’s
A Marioke night at Juju’s Bar & Stage is something you won’t forget anytime soon. Playing Mario Kart on a huge screen is fun enough, but having an 8-piece live band perform all the classic game tracks—speeding up for the final lap—takes it to another level. The music is spot on and adds a whole new level of excitement to the game.
The competition for the ‘Marioke Cup’ adds a lively and slightly chaotic edge, with plenty of laughs along the way. Even if you’re not competing, there are other screens to play on and a mini retro arcade to keep you entertained. It’s a rare event, but if you ever get the chance to go, we’d highly recommend it!
